Mobile marketing has already started… but it is not too late to get in, while still in the early stages. The winners will be those that jump in now or have…and are aggressive in this upcoming marketing method that is growing each day! The mobile web is growing, in terms of traffic, at an exponential rate (4,000% a year in the UK alone, based on last year’s figures) but it is behind in terms of websites which are ready to take advantage of it.
Some other numbers that may make you re-think your mobile marketing strategy:
* There are 6.8 billion people on the planet… 5.1 billion own a phone. (Unysis 2011)
* Average response to a text message… 90 seconds. (ctia.org 2011)
* Percentage of mobile subscribers that own a smartphone has gone from 31% in January 2011 to 48% in January 2012. (Nielsen 2012)
* 9 of 10 mobile searchers take action after a phone search. (Google 2011)
* 7 of 10 mobile searchers take action within an hour. (Mobile Marketer 2011)
While taking a closer look at your company’s PPC strategy, it’s important to: 1) have clear, concise goals, 2) compare the key differences between desktop search and mobile search, 3) make sure your landing pages are user friendly for mobile users, and 4) set yourself up for mobile analytics so that you can see what is working and how the traffic is coming in through mobile devices.
Mobile searchers “want it now!” and as mobile marketers your job is to make things as simple as possible and lead them to click on the desired outcome as quickly as possible.
To do this, a business or brand will want to know how to incorporate SEO and PPC more effectively to get more impactful results. One of the issues dealing with SEO for mobile sites is dealing with the divided link equity and the using of one URL. Google also acknowledges that they will resize images, if need be…which would clearly alter the image if not knowing the details of this.
